Mktg - Unusual nanny ad draws attention of blogs

NEW YORK, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- A New York mother who described her kids as "a pain" in her posterior in a Craigslist ad for a new nanny said the strategy has worked.
Rebecca Land Soodak, a 40-year-old painter and aspiring writer who lives with her husband, the owner of Union Square Wines and Spirits, and their four children on the city's posh Upper East Side, authored an ad for a nanny on the Web site that quickly was reposted to parenting blogs across the Internet that noted the honesty and neuroses of the author, The New York Times reported Friday.
"I don't want someone who has a lot of theories on the right way to raise kids," the ad read. "If you are fundamentally unhappy with your life, you will be more unhappy if you take this job."
"If you suspect all wealthy women are frivolous, we are not for you. I do not want to hide my occasional Bergdorf shopping bag," Land Soodak wrote.
However, despite the sometimes mocking tone of responses to the ad, Land Soodak said she received about 75 e-mails from readers, about half of whom were genuinely interested in the job.
Land Soodak said she interviewed three applicants before settling on Christina Wynn, 25.
"She said it's four kids, it's non-stop and that she has expectations and if a person doesn't meet them, things don't work out well," Wynn said of her new employer, the Times reported.
