Youtube's Make over

MUMBAI: Online video community Youtube that allows people to discover, watch and share originally created videos, has introduced the personalised homepage.
The customisable homepage features new interactive modules that can be moved around, removed and replaced, in order to create a more personal and comprehensive video discovery experience.

Alongside homepage regulars like Featured and Most Popular videos, the new homepage will include personalized recommendations (an algorithmically-selected set of videos based on past views and favorites), the latest videos from subscriptions and an easier way to see what friends are uploading, favoriting and rating.
In addition, the new personalised homepage features a dashboard that includes stats about the user’s Inbox and information about their videos. The new display also showcases stats such as total views, number of subscribers and more.

Youtube product director Hunter Walk says, "YouTube users now have a simple answer to the question 'what should I watch today?' as the personalised homepage makes it easy to find the content and people they care about.
"We're excited to give our community more tools to customise the world's largest video site to their tastes."
The Youtube personalised homepage was first tested in February on a group of users selected at random and was enhanced based upon feedback. Youtube users who are logged-out and visitors without accounts will not have access to the Youtube personalised homepage. The mobile Youtube experience will remain the same.
