LONDON Abu Dhabi TV has announced it will launch a new +1 channel in time for Ramadan this year.
The channel will be exactly the same as flagship Abu Dhabi TV but air an hour later.
The move is part of a series of initiatives aimed at boosting the profile of the channel, part of the Abu Dhabi Media Company, around the Arab world and particularly the lucrative market of Saudi Arabia.
Abu Dhabi TV will also be airing a number of new skeins, including a world-first reality series "Ton of Cash," developed with Endemol Middle East; new game show "Man Al-Ahaq" and reality show "Min Al Zero."
"We want to meet the wishes of viewers for innovation, richer programming and more convenience and choice," said Abu Dhabi exec director Karim Sarkis. "Our new identity, richer programming and the launch of Abu Dhabi +1 is part of our strategy to lead the development of high-quality entertainment and content across the Arab world."
