Datacom, a Videocon subsidiary, has mandated international brand consultancy Interbrand to create a brand identity and a brand name for the company. Datacom will roll out mobile services on GSM platform for which it has a pan-India licence.
“Interbrand will also work on the positioning and personality for the brand,” said Datacom CEO Ravi Sharma.
Interbrand’s Singapore office will work on the exercise. It may be recalled that Interbrand worked on the new identity for the Godrej Group a few months ago. Globally, Interbrand has worked with clients like AT&T, BMW, Cartier, Gillette, Porsche and Samsung.
Datacom will be among the host of new mobile service providers which also include Unitech, Shyam Telecom and Swan. Datacom is expected to launch services by the end of this year in Chennai. “Datacom will not be the brand name,” he clarified.
