It is a great Dussehra for Colors. The latest numbers from TAM Media Research have put the channel in a clear No. 2 spot, with only 28 GRPs separating it from the genre leader.
Colors is at 250 GRPs this week, while Star Plus is at 278 GRPs. Zee TV has garnered 220 GRPs this week, while Sony is firm on the No. 4 spot with 105 GRPs. Star One has 100 GRPs, NDTV Imagine has 78 GRPs, SaharaOne has 69 GRPs, 9x has 58 GRPs, and SAB has 33 GRPs. Star Plus is down by 20 points this week, while Zee TV has lost 16 points.
If the numbers are observed closely, for the target audience SEC ABC 15-34 in the Hindi speaking markets, Colors has even beaten Star Plus. In week 40, the overall GRPs for Colors in this TG is 262. Star Plus follows with 239, Zee TV has 203, Sony has 124 and Star One has 122.
The fight in the Hindi GEC genre is very tough at the moment. exchange4media readers would recall that in the last week, Zee TV and Colors were neck-and-neck at 236 GRPs. Needless to say, the major contributor for Colors has been ‘Balika Vadhu’ and ‘Jai Shri Krishna’. Also, format shows like ‘Bigg Boss’ and ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ are adding to the overall numbers of the channel.
Colors has scored even on the reach parameter this week – both Star Plus and Colors have garnered over 61 per cent reach in this week. Zee TV, on the other hand, had a reach of 57 per cent.
