MUMBAI: Sourav Ganguly may be retiring from international cricket but he is already mulling an alternative career as a cricket commentator. According to sources close to Sourav, the Bengal southpaw is keen to don the hat of a commentator after he formally bids adieu to the game. There is a strong buzz that he will most probably make his debut as a commentator in the ensuing England series starting this November. Ganguly always had flair for words as his statements always made juicy headlines. If things go according to plan, Ganguly might be joining the Sky Sports’ team of experts like Ian Botham, David Gower, Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain. It is, however, not clear whether Ganguly will be commentating full-time through the series or will take it up as a part-time assignment.

A family friend close of the Gangulys said that, Sourav is flushed with offers from leading channels and he will be carefully picking and choosing them. Some of the leading channels are trying to bind Dada in an exclusive contract with them but he has not responded to those till now.

Sources also say that Ganguly also wants to focus on his other cricketing responsibilities like leading the Kolkata Knight Riders team at the IPL. “Ganguly doesn’t want a full fledged exclusive commentator contract immediately after his retirement. He has got a lot of good offers from channels and he is considering them. He is willing to be seen at the commentators box in the India-England series though,” the source added.
