Sport - Cricket;Nine run hits in ICL

HYDERABAD: The Indian Cricket League (ICL), organised by the Essel Group, will now introduce a nine-run hit for the first time ever in coming edition scheduled to commence at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here from October 10.
Under this rule a batsman who hits the ball for 90m will be credited with nine runs. The ICL first introduced the referral rule wherein the players challenged the decision of the umpires during the inaugural Edelweiss Challenge World Series in Hyderabad.
Michael Bevan, former Australian cricketer and now coach of Chennai Superstars in the ICL, says that the ICL has the platform to go in for innovations to make the game more spectator friendly. — Principal Correspondent
