MUMBAI: Veteran producer-director and one of India's best known entertainment masters, B R Chopra, has passed away. He was 95 and died at 8.15 am today at his home in Juhu, Mumbai. The funeral will be held at 4.30pm today (Wednesday, 5 November) at the Juhu Crematorium (near Pawan Hans).
B R Chopra is widely regarded as the architect of some immortal classics like Naya Daur, Ek Hi Rasta, Kanoon, Dhool Ka Phool, Gumraah. The banner made its foray into television serial production in 1985. ‘Mahabharat’ was directed by his son Ravi Chopra, under the BR Films banner.
Founding the B R Films banner in 1955, Chopra believed in depicting social themes and family values in his movies. Chopra was this year's Dadasaheb Phalke Ratna award recepient.
