Farhan Akhtar will have to wait a little longer to make his television debut. The current crisis facing the TV industry has resulted in Farhan’s debut TV show OYE… It’s Friday being pushed for a December launch. If things go to plan, then OYE… It’s Friday will launch on December 12 on NDTV Imagine.
A source from the production (Endemol India) says, “We were initially planning to launch the show on 14 November and have the cast of Dostana (Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham) as guests. However, the ongoing strike by the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and Producer’s Guild has badly affected our plans. With the broadcasters too threatening a blackout of fresh programming, there was no way that our show could have been launched in November. The show will now launch on December 12.”
Elaborating on the nature of the show, our source says, “The basic theme of the show is to invite top celebrities whose film is to release that Friday. It’s basically a chat show but we will also get to see Farhan perform – be it dance or singing. In addition to this, we’ll have gags by the likes of Kiku Sharda, Gaurav Gera, Howard Rosemeyer, Kunal Kumar and Priya Ahuja. Every guest will be spoofed.
