India - Jaipur Asia's 7th best tourist destination

WASHINGTON: Jaipur has been named the seventh best city in Asia to visit and the highest rated hotel in the world is the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur,
Rajasthan, according to a report.

The survey, conducted by the elite magazine Conde Nast Traveller, also states that three of the best five hotels in Asia are located in India with Oberoi Amarvilas coming in second and Oberoi Rajvilas bagging the fifth spot.

Jet Airways has been ranked among the top international airlines for non-American routes by the readers of the magazine, coming in only after Silk Air of Singapore.

More than 32,000 Conde Nast Traveller readers participated in the 2008 Readers Choice Survey, and the complete results will appear in the November issue of the magazine.

"The 2008 Readers Choice Awards, with more than 32,000 readers voting, are a credit to the worldly expertise of our readers and passionate travelers for whom no island is too remote, no city too challenging, and no hotel too untested," Klara Glowczewska, editor-in-chief of the magazine said.

"These awards celebrate the destinations, lodgings, and modes of transportation that exceed our expectations," Glowczewska added.

As per the report, the top four cities in Asia are Bangkok and Chiang Mai of Thailand and Hong Kong and Singapore while the top two hotels making the mark are the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai, Thailand and Mombo and Little Mombo Camps in Moremi, Botswana.
