Four Indian agencies find their names in the list of finalists at The London International Awards (LIA). The winners are to be announced on November 10, 2008 at the Hippodrome in London.
Initiated in 1986, LIA recognises and honours exceptional work in advertising, design and digital media.
Of the four Indian agencies, Leo Burnett is on top with 11 nominations. Ten of these are for the work done on Luxor Highlighters, which has won the agency accolades in most ad festivals this year. The campaign has been nominated in the Design category (three nominations) and Print category (seven nominations). The eleventh nomination is for Tide Detergents in the Consumer Campaign sub-category of the Print category. The campaign is titled Lipstick, Ketchup, Ice cream.
Next in line is O&M, Mumbai and Bangalore, with nine of its entries making it to the shortlist. Three of these nominations are for Neo Sports, in the Campaign and Media Promotions sub-category of the Television/Cinema category. O&M is also the only Indian agency with a nomination in the Radio category, for Videocon Integra Wide Screen TV.
O&M received another two nominations in the Design category for Asian Paints and Dr Pramod Niphakar. In the Non-Traditional category, it received one shortlist for HSBC – Swimming Pool in the Ambient Outdoor sub-category. The other two shortlists were from O&M, Bangalore, for IBM in the Print category.
With five shortlisted entries, JWT is the third Indian agency in the race. In the Integrated Media campaign category, it has received one nomination for The Times of India’s Lead India campaign. The remaining four nominations are for Rolling Stone Magazine in the Design category.
The other agency to have made it to the finalist list is CreativeLand Asia, with two nominations in the Television/Cinema category, for Mintrox, in the Low Budget sub-category.

The awards juries also included some big names from Indian advertising. The Integrated Media and Television/Cinema juries included KV Sridhar, national creative director, Leo Burnett, India; Santosh Padhi, executive creative director and national head of art, India, Leo Burnett; and Sajan Raj Kurup, chairman and chief creative officer, CreativeLand Asia. Sonal Dabral, chairman, India and regional executive creative director, Bates 141 was also part of the Non Traditional Media, Poster and Billboards and Print categories jury.
