Entertainment - Music Review;Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Nikhil Taneja

Music Director: Salim-Sulaiman

Salim-Sulaiman appear to be the flavours of the season with the Yash Raj banner at this very minute (read Aaja Nachle, Chak De! India and heaven knows, what else is in the pipeline).

Yesterday’s ace background music maestros, however, still have to settle down into the groove of composing film songs.

Outcome: this effort’s strictly comme ci, comme ca re ga ma pa. Haule haule is the one that connects immediately, from the lot of six, and that’s essentially for its traditional and simple harmonium-infused melody.

The track Phir milenge chalte chalte has its flashes of inspiration, besides paying tribute to the R K parivaar, from Raj Kapoor to Rishi Kapoor, courtesy Jaideep Sahni’s lyrics.

The rest of the songs, which include an average dance track, a romantic solo, and an alternate version of each, make for okey dokey listening, but certainly don’t suggest the makings of a classic soundtrack.
