Aamir Khan pumped iron for 13 months, for four hours every single day, to get his sculpted look for Ghajini. After all, the actor wanted the “best body in the world,” for the movie.
Guiding him was Satyajit Chorasia, better known as Satya, owner of a popular Mumbai gym. The celebrity trainer has trained the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Zayed Khan, Rani Mukherji, Esha Deol, Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgan.
Aamir, who has eight-pack abs now, lost 12 kilos from his earlier 80 kilo frame. However, the actor was not satisfied even then. Once the promos hit the screens and appreciation for his look began pouring in, he told Satya, “We could have done a lot better if I hadn’t been slightly lax because of Taare Zameen Par.”
In Aamir’s case, Satya says it was a case of mind over matter. “Khan is a perfectionist and his mind power helped him attain this look,” said Satya. Aamir admits that Satya’s regime had him exhausted in two weeks. “It was then that I realised that working out is more about your mind; and how you force your mind to give the kind of results you want,” said Khan.
Two years ago, Aamir showed Satya and wife Kiran the Tamil version of Ghajini and asked Satya what it would take to get the best body in the world. “It took us six months to plan out his schedule and since he was really busy, I suggested we work out in his garage. We did so for a while but then I said that maza nahi aa raha; I wanted place for more equipment,” explains Satya. So they combined Aamir’s garage with another one and set up a full-fledged gym where the actor could work out. “
Although he was always dedicated to the schedule, he started giving not 100 per cent but 1000 per cent after Taare.. He’s known to be a perfectionist but even then his commitment and focus stunned me,” he added.
“During the post-production of films, one tends to have very weird timing but I had made a rule that if I don’t workout I won’t go for editing,” said Aamir.
