While rumours are rife that Kahaani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki is going off-air, producer Ekta Kapoor denies it.
There are strong rumours doing the rounds that Ekta Kapoor’s Kahaani Hamaray Mahabharat Ki is going to pull down its curtains. When Balaji Telefilms decided to interpret India’s greatest mythological saga, it was debated whether it would match up to B R Chopra’s Mahabharat—one of the finest adaptations of the epic almost two decades ago. Though Ekta’s show had a massive launch it was panned by critics.A source reveals, “The hype has fizzled out within a few episodes. The show has been criticised for its costumes, which look more ‘Greek’ than Indian.”
The source continues, “While roping in popular faces like Ronit Roy and Sakshi Tanwar, Balaji thought that it would cash in on their mass appeal. However, this has backfired. Whenever these stars appear on screen, audiences relate to them as Mr Bajaj or Parvati bhabhi.”
Though Ekta’s show is one of the highest rated shows on the channel, the TRPs reportedly are just average. So both Balaji and the channel are apparently considering pulling off the show within the next two months.
An actor in the show reveals, “I am doing the show because I have signed it and I am part of the publicity too. Moreover, I cannot ditch Ekta. But, I have heard a strong buzz about it going off-air.”
However Ekta refutes the speculations. “These are all false rumours. Actors who didn’t get a role in the show are spreading them. The show is doing very well and it’s the highest TRP grabber on the channel.”
Ekta insists that the channel is ready with the second round of promotions. “We are going to start the next promotional activity in a big way. This time, the promotion will concentrate on the grown-up Pandavas. I am sure, the TRPs will be rocking as ever,” she ends.
