Business - IRS 2008 - Hindi Dailes

MRUC released the Round 2 (R2) data of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) yesterday evening. With a total readership of 5.57 crores, Dainik Jagran retains top spot among all publications. Nevertheless, the Hindi daily has witnessed a decline in readership over the last round, down from 5.66 crores.

In the Hindi daily category, Dainik Bhaskar comes second with total readership of 3.38 crore, as per the R2 data. It has witnessed a marginal rise in this round, from 3.19 crore readers in Round 1.


At No. 3, Amar Ujala’s readership stands at 2.93 crore, which is again a decline from R1’s figure of 2.96 crore. Hindustan stands at No. 4 with 2.66 crore readers, while Rajasthan Patrika is No. 5 with 1.39 crore readers, followed by Punjab Kesari, with 1.09 crore readers.

Aj, Navbharat Times, Prabhat Khabar and Nava Bharat complete the list of Top 10 Hindi dailies. Aj has recorded a total readership of 64 lakhs; Navabharat Times, 51 lakhs; Prabhat Khabar, 49 lakhs; and Nava Bharat (Mah/Chh), 46 lakhs.
